The Challenge

American Glass is a wholesale distribution company operating across 25 locations. Their business runs on connectivity. When a location goes down, orders stop, warehouse operations stall, and customers cannot get what they need. Downtime is not an inconvenience for a distributor of this scale. It is a direct hit to revenue.

Before working with Catch Advisors, American Glass was experiencing network outages 1-2 times per month across their locations. Each hour of downtime cost the company over $20,000 in lost productivity, delayed orders, and disrupted warehouse operations. With a single ISP circuit at most locations and no failover capability, one bad circuit meant an entire facility went dark.

Their phone system was equally fragmented. Different locations ran different setups, making it difficult for teams to collaborate across sites. There was no unified communication platform, no centralized management, and no modern features like mobile apps or video conferencing.

Key pain points included:

  • 1-2 network outages per month across the 25-location footprint
  • $20,000+ per hour in downtime costs from halted operations, delayed orders, and lost productivity
  • Single ISP circuits with no redundancy at most locations
  • No centralized network visibility to identify and resolve issues quickly
  • Fragmented phone systems with no unified communications platform across sites
  • No SD-WAN or intelligent routing to manage traffic across locations

Our Approach

American Glass needed two things: a network that never goes down and a phone system that works the same everywhere. We delivered both.

Phase 1: ISP Audit and Circuit Design (Weeks 1-4)

We audited every ISP circuit across all 25 locations, documenting providers, bandwidth, costs, contract terms, and historical outage data. The pattern was clear: most locations had a single circuit from a single provider with no backup path.

We designed a new circuit strategy for every location, adding a primary and secondary ISP connection at each site. The goal was not just redundancy but diversity. Where possible, we sourced the primary and secondary circuits from different providers using different last-mile infrastructure to eliminate shared points of failure.

Phase 2: SD-WAN Deployment (Weeks 4-10)

With dual circuits in place, we deployed SD-WAN across all 25 locations. The SD-WAN layer bonded the primary and secondary connections together, providing active-active load balancing during normal operation and instant failover if either circuit degraded or failed.

Centralized management gave American Glass real-time visibility into bandwidth utilization, application performance, and circuit health at every location from a single dashboard. Application-aware routing prioritized business-critical traffic like their ERP and warehouse management systems, ensuring that operations always had the bandwidth they needed.

Phase 3: RingCentral UCaaS Migration (Weeks 8-14)

With the network foundation solid, we migrated all users across all 25 locations to RingCentral. This replaced the patchwork of legacy phone systems with a single unified communications platform that provided voice, video, messaging, and faxing from any device.

Every location received the same experience. Front desk staff, warehouse teams, sales reps, and executives all had access to the same tools whether they were in the office, on the warehouse floor, or working remotely. Call flows were designed per location with centralized management so changes could be made across the entire organization in minutes.

Results

The impact was immediate and has been sustained for over five years:

  • Zero downtime in 5 consecutive years across all 25 locations since deployment
  • Eliminated $20K+/hour outage costs that were occurring 1-2 times per month
  • 25 locations on redundant SD-WAN with primary and secondary circuits at every site
  • Active-active failover providing seamless connectivity even during circuit issues
  • Full RingCentral deployment with unified voice, video, messaging, and mobile apps across all sites
  • Centralized network management with real-time visibility into every location
  • Consistent user experience across all 25 locations with a single communications platform

Client Feedback

“Before Catch Advisors, we were going down once or twice a month and it was costing us a fortune every time. They came in, put primary and secondary circuits at every location, set up SD-WAN, and moved us all to RingCentral. That was five years ago. We have not had a single outage since. Not one. The investment paid for itself in the first few months and has been saving us money ever since. I recommend Kyle and the Catch Advisors team to everyone I know.”
